Cunningham Cabin | Tim Peterson

Cunningham Cabin | Tim Peterson

This tour gives you the opportunity to see the major wildlife, scenic vistas, and cultural sites of Grand Teton National Park in one day (approximately 8-9hours). During this tour you will have a chance to see moose near Mormon Row, visit the Pierce Cunningham Cabin (the site of an old-fashioned western shootout), Mt. Moran’s reflection in Oxbow Bend, the historic Jackson Lake Lodge, Coulter Bay Marina, Signal Mountain, Jenny, Jackson, and Leigh Lakes, and the Bar BC Dude Ranch before returning to Jackson, Wyoming. Wildlife you could potentially see include beavers, black bears, grizzly bears, bison, coyotes, eagles, elk, mule deer, osprey, and pronghorns.

Trip Itinerary

If you only have one day to explore the Tetons this all-day excursion is the tour to take. From rustic homesteader cabins to thriving herds of pronghorns and bison near Elk Flats Ranch, to the breathtaking lakes, waterfalls, and jagged peaks of the Teton Mountain Range, you will be left with a sense of awe during this full-day of sightseeing. You’ll also get back in time to enjoy Jackson’s nightlife activities.

Departure Point – Your hotel in Teton Village, the town of Jackson, or a mutually agreeable location.

Departure Time – Tours leave Jackson at 7:00 AM, though pick-up at your hotel maybe 30- to 60-minutes earlier.

Return Time – All guests will be returned to their original departure point at approximately 3:30 PM, subject to weather, road construction, or wildlife induced traffic jams.

After we pick you up from your hotel, we’ll make a quick stop at our favorite deli to grab breakfast, lunch, and beverages.  From there, we’ll enter Grand Teton Nation Park. We’ll drive down several primitive roads in search of grizzly and black bears - from inside the vehicle or at a distance (a minimum of 100-yards), of course.  We’ll stop at Oxbow Bend to capture a photo of Mt. Moran and its reflection in the slow-moving arm of the Snake River.

It can be cool in the morning in the Tetons, if not downright cold. Daytime temperatures can soar to a high of 80F/26C. Nights are usually cool, and temperatures can drop below freezing at higher elevations. Thunderstorms are common in the afternoons. It can snow during any month of the year, so be prepared to dress in layers

A good sense of adventure and awe, a camera (with charger or extra batteries), sun glasses, sun hat, sunscreen, appropriate clothing (long pants, both short- and long-sleeved shirts (no cotton), and a waterproof and windproof outer layer), athletic walking shoes, any prescription medications, and a day pack with enough capacity to carry all the above. We also encourage our guest to bring reusable water bottles to help reduce our environmental impact in the Park.

Hotel pick-up is offered for this tour. Note: if you are booking within 24 hours of the tour departure time, we will send you complete contact information (phone number, email address, etc.) for our guides to reconfirm pick-up arrangements with you.
